Eleven months

Due to the activities around our moving to China, the "Eleven months" post and picture are a bit delayed. Sorry about that! But here they are. Enjoy!

What's new?
Also during the past months, Mylène has developed a lot. To start with, she really crawls now! And very well indeed! She pulls herself up to anything she can hold on to: sofa, chairs, table, legs, etc. While supporting herself, she can also walk sideways quite well. And not only on the tip of her toes anymore.

Favourite food
The kind of food seems less relevant. When Mylène gets something to eat herself, she is quiet and busy for a long time. We gave her banana, rice waffles, pieces of bread, fruit, cucumber, etc. ... a very convenient trick to keep her quiet for a while.
At the moment, we cannot complain about her eating habits (other than about Mylène making a mess every time she eats).

Weight
During the U6 on 18 August (oops... still have to write a post on that) she was 9,7 kg.

Length
76 cm (also measured during the U6)

Language
Perhaps the most impressive development during the past month. Mylène now really starts imitating words. She says "Dag" again! Well ... ok ... "Dada", but she is waving her hands while doing so :-) Furthermore she knows "aai aai" when you brush her hairs (or when she is trying to brush our hairs), and "ka ka ka" when we say "eendje" or "yazi" (Dutch and Chinese respectively ... yes! it seems Mylène starts to understand both languages), and last but not least, she says "mama" very well ... just not always in the right context (a lamp for example can also be "mama").

Other
Last month I made a remark about singing. Well, it was not wishful thinking. It is really true. When turning on music, Mylène starts waving her hands, moving her body, and really starts to sing, sort of: "la la la".

She is so cute!!

P.S. It is getting more and more difficult to make a decent picture of Mylène with the zebra ... she just does not want to sit still. Here are some pictures of "the making of ..."

Mylène crawls!!

Another milestone in Mylène's short life has been reached ;-)
This week, Mylène started crawling!! It was on Wednesday 23 August, at the Osterkamp's that she really started. And it is amazing how quickly she learned. Right now, she is already crawling like a world champion :-)

On the video you can see her crawling towards her favourite toy: the tv remote control.

On the same clip you will see Mylène walking step by step, holding on to the sofa, towards ... the TV remote control :-)

New teeth

Finally! Two new teeth are coming out. Months after the first two teeth (see the post of 17 May 2006) two brand new teeth are coming through in Mylène's upper jaw. She did not seem to have had any problems with it, as she was not more difficult than usual; neither did she cry more usual.

A quick check in my own baby book, which my mother gave me the last time we were in Gouda, showed that I had my first and second tooth with 8 months and 11 months respectively as well!!! Never thought even these things can be inherited.

Talking - Ka ka

After having forgotten all about her first word "Daahaa" for a while, Mylène is back on track now. She is repeating many tones and since a few days, we notice that Mylène is really learning to understand AND repeat words.

She is saying "Da da" again, while waving with her hands. But what's new, is that she recognises a duck. In the bathroom, above the diaper table, we have a mobile with lots of animals. While changing her diapers we always tell her what the animals say, focussing on the yellow duck. "Wat zegt het eendje? Het eendje zegt `kwak kwak kwak`" She obviously knows that now, because when we ask her now where the duck is, she looks at the mobile and shouts "Ka Ka Ka" :-)

Mylène eats all by herself

A picture says more than a 1.000 words can tell :-)

First crawling attempts

As I was going through the Mylène video collection, I found a few nice ones that I did not publish on this blog yet.

On this one, you can see how Mylène pulls a small car towards her, with a rope. And you will see her first crawling attempts. Really funny, because the crawling is still very tiring, which Mylène does not like :-)

It was nice for us to see this clip again, because it shows the progress so well she has made in less than two months.

Throwing stuff out

And here is another funny video that was not published before, yet. The things Mylène is playing with in her playpen usually end up on the floor after a few minutes. As most babies, she enjoys the game of throwing stuff on the floor and waiting until we picked it up to give it back to her.
