Back from ski holiday
Those of you who were not informed about our whereabouts during the past week might have wondered why there hasn't been any update on Mylène daily for a while. Those of you who were informed might not, as we were enjoying a week in the snow in Schruns, Austria.
Before going, I was a bit worried about whether it would be easy or not to go on a ski holiday with Mylène. Now, after returning home, I can say that I worried too much. It has been very nice, and actually no problem at all. In fact, I have the feeling that Mylène has enjoyed the attention a lot, and that she has even learned quite a lot from observing people and imitating them. We went with a group of friends that we got to know through Christoph and Martina, and with whom we also went skiing last year. Auntie Karin also joined us this year. In total, we were with 16 adults, and 8 children, 3 of which were babies. So the house was never empty and always ... lively ... to say the least ;-)
The weather was very good and there was plenty of snow, so we had excellent conditions for great skiing. If you'd like to get an impression of our week in the snow, check out the pictures on Flickr.

Pffft
It is interesting to see, that Mylène's developments do not go straight forward, but rather with several detours. Her sleeping habits for example. There was a time that Mylène slept from 19:00 to 7:00 without waking up or being fed. How happy we were, thinking that the time that she slept through the night had come. But as quickly as it came, it also disappeared again. She still sleeps quite well, but not through the night anymore. She usually wakes up at 3:00 and shouts for food ... which she then also gets.
Another example is her talking skills. A while ago, she really started talking in her own language (see also the post on 3 December). A few days later, though, she didn't feel like to anymore, and limited herself to a kind of moaning. This week, she discovered a new way to use her mouth. Also this cannot be called talking, but I felt it is so cute, that I felt I should put it on the website. So, here it is. Turn the volume up and enjoy!!

Fever?
Sometimes, I cannot believe how quickly time goes by: before writing this post, I saw that the last time I posted a message was on 30 December! Time to catch up.
Mylène spent her first new year's eve very quietly. In fact, I don't think she noticed anything about it at all, besides the fact that she did not sleep in her own bed. We spent the evening with Christoph, Martina and Lisa. It was a very nice evening. After Mylène and Lisa fell asleep and after a wonderful dinner, we played "Siedler" until the bottles had been emptied. We were of course so polite to let our host, Martina, win the game.
A few days later, we had the feeling that Mylène caught a cold. Her nose was running, she coughed and sneezed, and she felt a bit warm at times. I guess we were a bit afraid a virus would have infected her during the party after Xmas. So, it was time to use the thermometer ... 37,0 degrees ... as usual, we worried without a reason. Of course, as fresh parents, you don't believe a thermometer just like that. So, over a period of around three days, we checked Mylène's temperature regularly ... 37.3 ... 37.1 ... 37.2 ...
After a while, she stopped coughing and her nose was free again.
I think that the thermometer works well and Mylène is fine.
